Help those in need

*Help those in need*
Then the King will say, 'For sure, I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of My brothers, you have done it to Me.' (Mat 25:40 NLV)
*In the opening text the Master was speaking of what was to come, note this was not a parable but a prophecy. Jesus said all nations would be gathered before Him and He would separate the sheep from the goats like a shepherd, the sheep represent the righteous and the goats the unrighteous . . .And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into everlasting life. (Mat 25:46)
*The sheep Jesus explained as the people who fed the hungry, gave drink to the thirsty, welcomed strangers, clothed the naked and visited the sick and prisoners as righteous and those that did not as condemned goats and unrighteous. Jesus said what we do to these seemly lowly people we do to Him. It is important to treat everyone with compassion and respect. . .Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. (Heb 13:2)
*Jesus said if we receive a prophet in the name of a prophet we receive a prophet’s reward, but He said what you do to the least you do to Him. The Lord always hides His power to see true humility, for fewer people help the needy and lowly but there is a reward not to be lost. . .And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. (Mat 10:42)
*As Christians we must heed these words, for Christians often fast and pray but as seen in Isaiah the kind of fasting the Lord seeks is the act of feeding the hungry, helping the poor, clothing the naked, helping the homeless and putting away finger pointing. These actions please the Lord and bring about reward.

"The kind of fasting I want is this: Remove the chains of oppression and the yoke of injustice, and let the oppressed go free. Share your food with the hungry and open your homes to the homeless poor. Give clothes to those who have nothing to wear, and do not refuse to help your own relatives. "Then my favor will shine on you like the morning sun, and your wounds will be quickly healed. I will always be with you to save you; my presence will protect you on every side. When you pray, I will answer you. When you call to me, I will respond. "If you put an end to oppression, to every gesture of contempt, and to every evil word; if you give food to the hungry and satisfy those who are in need, then the darkness around you will turn to the brightness of noon. And I will always guide you and satisfy you with good things. I will keep you strong and well. You will be like a garden that has plenty of water, like a spring of water that never goes dry.
(Isa 58:6-11 GNB)
